Tonight’s educational event;
Jim presents on a conference at the Brattleboro Retreat given by
Lynn Lyons, LCSW last April.   She’s studied with Michael Yapko, PhD, and
other hypnosis clinicians and leaders, but uses plain language in dealing with
parents of anxious-phobic children.    Tonight, we will be looking at her
professional DVD that I bought at her conference.   She talks to parents of
anxious/phobic [as in school phobia] children on how to promote confidence
and reduce anxious behavior, which indirectly addresses the parent’s anxiety.
She uses beautifully simple, user-friendly language, yet is especially charming
[bypassing the critical factor] and persuasive [acceptance of worthy
suggestion].   I showed the DVD to an anxious 10th grader and his mother, and
the difference was immediate.
See you all Thursday.

CRCNGH Meeting Minutes  April 21, 2016

Attendance form passed around to be signed.    Attending were current members. Jerome
Pindell, Barbara Davison, Charlene Therrien, Joanna D’Aleo, Theresa Anne Raskowski,
Elizabeth Tybor, Carol Fagan, and Jim Hislop.    Past member Cathy Pascale also joined us
for the evening.

We had 7 new hypnotists graduating from our winter 2016 class, [one by George graduated
separately].  They are all now full members.   Five attended this evening and received their
diplomas; Donna Mills, Stephen Roberts, Shelley Bennett, Richard Yerry, and Steven
Borden.   Loretta Lebar has also graduated but was unable to attend, and received her
diploma previously, and George’s student, Bill Toussant, also graduated separately.
Shannon Keys, in a separate conversation, said that she also graduated 2 students
recently.   We have a growing population of consulting hypnotists and hypnotherapists.
What if Albany became even more of a Mecca for hypnosis training and practice?

Old and Ongoing Business;
Treasurer’s report;   Sarah emailed me to report that she was unable to attend but we have
$1183.22 in our account.
We still need a check for Jim for $95.00 reimbursing for several months of pizza, plus next
month.    We enjoyed, by popular request, the thin-crust pizza.   This is the first month that
we had no left-overs from two large pies.
We still need another $50.00 check for the Lyons Eye Bank as a quarterly donation for the
use of their room.
Last month’s minutes were approved.

Tonight’s educational event was;
Jerome Pindell  presented on the hypnotic uses of poetry, meeting his description as
follows;
“Hypnosis uses language to influence the subconscious toward making desired changes.
It often uses metaphors to assist the client to imagine, visualize, create images that speak
to the subconscious and to illustrate by analogy or even fabricate new worlds of
possibilities that a client can seamlessly enter.  We do that often with a brevity of language,
but with an eye toward hitting the mark our client seeks.
Poetry does the same.  With a few lines it can conjure a picture in our minds that transports
us to another place, sensation, or memory.  I will attempt to bring as many examples of
poems that we could use as inductions, deepeners, or suggestions for a few different
issues, and show how to adapt the language of the poem to your specific requirements.”
Jerome’s hand-out was also outstanding, with poems from Theodore Roethke, Rilke,
Rumi, Randall Jerrell, and his own original poetry.

May Meeting;
Please attend and show your support at our May meeting.   We have yearly elections and
dues are payable.   Then, Charlene’s daughter Meighan will present on ‘’EFT and Wealth”.
We have a valuable balance in our account.   We welcome any proposals for guest
speakers and activities that might require funds that we now have available.

Upcoming Topics;
May;                Dues, elections and [Charlene’s daughter] Guest Meighan on “EFT and
Wealth”
June;                Sarah presents on “Conscious Dreaming and Reframing”
July;                 Joanna presents on “Sleep Techniques and Hypnosis”.
August;             Convention recap
September;      Barbara presents on her convention topic, “Intuition”
October;          Jim presents on; Lynn Lyons’s, ‘’Humor, Homework and Hypnosis”
I have an idea for a meeting topic from a presentation earlier this month at the Brattleboro
Retreat.  It was a presentation by Lynn Lyons, LICSW, on ‘’Humor, Homework and
Hypnosis”, and had an excellent handout and content.  She also has a DVD for parents
which I will play portions of.   Barbara, we haven’t scheduled your convention preview
presentation on ‘’Intuition’’, so  I’ve scheduled myself for October and Barbara for
September.

possibilities that a client can seamlessly enter.  We do that often with a brevity of language,
